Interesting research topic: The NALCN ion channel is a key player of cell excitability, especially in neurons and endocrine cells. Mutations in the NALCN gene are described to be responsible of genetic diseases in humans. There are no therapeutics identified to date for patients. In this context, research programs carried out in the laboratory aim to understand the physiological roles of NALCN to better understand why its dysfunction induce a pathological state. It is expected to ultimately be able to propose therapeutics to patients. This project is based on the study of original models and tools we developed along with a more than 25-year-old expertise recognized worldwide.
