เพื่อตอบสนองยุทธศาสตร์ที่ 1 ของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล ในการสร้างผลงานวิจัยและนวัตกรรมที่มีผลกระทบสูงอย่างยั่งยืน และยุทธศาสตร์ที่ 1 ของภาควิชาสรีรวิทยา ที่จะมุ่งเน้นขยายงานบริการเด่นเพื่อความร่วมมือในการพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ ภาควิชาฯ จึงได้รวมห้องปฏิบัติการวิจัยที่ศึกษาสรีรวิทยาและการควบคุมการทำงานของหลอดเลือดมนุษย์ และห้องปฏิบัติการบริการตรวจประสาทอัตโนวัติควบคุมระบบไหลเวียนเลือด จัดตั้งเป็น “ศูนย์สรีรวิทยาหลอดเลือดศิริราช” เพื่อให้เป็นศูนย์วิจัยด้านสรีรวิทยาหลอดเลือดที่ครบวงจร ตั้งแต่ระดับโมเลกุล เซลล์ เนื้อเยื่อ และร่างกายมนุษย์ โดยเล็งเห็นจุดเด่นที่กลุ่มห้องปฏิบัติการนี้ มีเทคนิคหรืออุปกรณ์วิจัยที่ไม่มีทำที่อื่นในประเทศ หรือมีน้อย เช่น บริการตรวจประสาทอัตโนวัติควบคุมระบบไหลเวียนที่ครบถ้วน, patch-clamp technique, calcium imaging, flow-mediated dilation, nailfold capillaroscopy เป็นต้น อาจารย์และบุคลากรวิจัยมีศักยภาพที่จะสร้างเครือข่ายวิจัยทั้งภายในองค์กร ระดับประเทศ และระดับนานาชาติ นอกจากนี้ยังมีกลไกสนับสนุนการวิจัยทั้งระดับคณะฯ มหาวิทยาลัย และระดับชาติ นับเป็นปัจจัยสนับสนุนการจัดตั้งศูนย์สรีรวิทยาหลอดเลือดศิริราช เพื่อผลักดันให้เพิ่มสมรรถนะและผลผลิตการวิจัย ร่วมสร้างเครือข่าย และก้าวขึ้นเป็นศูนย์วิจัยเป็นเลิศต่อไป

In response to the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital's Strategy 1, which aims to create sustainable, high-impact research and innovation, and the Department of Physiology's Strategy 1, which focuses on expanding key services for collaborative knowledge development, the Department has merged its research laboratories studying human vascular physiology and function, and its autonomic nervous system diagnostic laboratory, to establish the "Siriraj Vascular Physiology Center." This center aims to be a comprehensive research center in vascular physiology, covering molecular, cellular, tissue, and human body levels. The center recognizes the unique strengths of this laboratory group, which possesses techniques and research equipment not found elsewhere in the country, or that are scarce, such as comprehensive autonomic nervous system diagnostic services, patch-clamp technique, calcium imaging, flow-mediated dilation, and nailfold capillaroscopy. The faculty and research personnel have the potential to build research networks within the organization, at the national and international levels. Furthermore, there are mechanisms to support research at the faculty, university, and national levels. These factors support the establishment of the Siriraj Vascular Physiology Center, aiming to enhance research capabilities and productivity, build networks, and ultimately become a research center of excellence.
